Experience one of Oman’s most scenic and culturally rich hiking routes with the Mountain Oasis Hiking Tour, a rewarding intermediate-level trek through the foothills of Al Hamra. This immersive journey combines dramatic mountain paths, ancient villages, lush oases, and living heritage, making it ideal for travelers seeking both nature and culture.

Tour Overview

The hike begins and ends at The View Oman, following narrow mountain trails that lead through rugged foothills and small rock canyons. Some sections of the path are narrow and exposed, making this hike best suited for guests with prior hiking experience or confident footing.

As you progress along the trail, you are rewarded with breathtaking natural scenery before reaching the 400-year-old mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen, dramatically set beside a mountain oasis. Perched at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level, the village offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valley and mountains. A visit to the village viewing platform provides one of the finest viewpoints in the region.

Wander through the village’s narrow alleys, crumbling stone houses, and stepped agricultural terraces nourished by the traditional Falaj irrigation system, recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed cultural tradition. Guests may also stroll through the date plantations or choose to enjoy lunch in the village (optional).

The tour continues with a drive down to the old town of Al Hamra to visit Bait Al Safah, a unique “living history” museum housed in a restored mud-brick building. Here, guests gain insight into traditional Omani life, customs, and craftsmanship from generations past.

The experience concludes with a return transfer back to The View Oman, marking the end of the Mountain Oasis Hiking Tour.
